Sometimes you just have minimal options and also what the holidays are doing to me.

Oh, this week has been mildly terrible. Sometimes the things that you hold on to the most have to take a hiatus in your life, just in time for the holidays. While I find this pretty fucking depressing, I guess I just have to maintain by drowning my sorrows in potato chips and sandwiches. That’s not so bad!

This time of year, especially, you have minimal options for sadness. You can either choose to be one of three things:

  1. Moderately sad, but only when alone and watching a Charlie Brown/claymation Christmas special.
  2. Completely depressed and cry when you walk by a street corner Christmas tree dealership.
  3. Consumed with the holiday spirit, buying presents for everyone (including yourself) while eating every piece of holiday pie/candy/cookie/sandwich you can find.

This year, I’m just going to go with #3. If there’s any time of year that you can bounce back from unrelenting post-breakup saddies, it’s the holidays. There are just too many colored string lights and Christmas ornaments around for me to stay bummed out. Also, it’s the time of year when it’s completely acceptable (if not encouraged) to add burbon to any beverage. Hello, masked holiday alcoholism, I’ve been waiting for you.

And with that, keep holly jolly, ya’ll.

xx
